quick question, when i play an e at the 9th fret on the g string my open a string vibrates. i went through the whole fretboard and this is the only place it does it. what would make it do that?

Usually when you play a note, any of the harmonics that have the same pitch (or a 5th up) vibrate.

Are you sure it's the open A and not the 7th fret harmonic? Since A is not the same as E, or a 5th up, I'm really not sure what it could be if not.

i can actually see the a string vibrate. i have to mute it with my hand. no question about it. strange.

And the pitch is definetely an "A1"?

be muting your other strings when you play that not. should be easy enough on ur g string. it could be the 7th fret harmonic since the 7th fret harmonic on the a string is e. my advice is just be muting all the time man. peace.

That's what I thought, but he said the pitch was an A.
