Got a good buzz going

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a old yamaha P bass copy BB200 (my first ever bass)

anyway i put a nice fender 62 reissue pickup in it sounds great
I also put some flats on it, going for a good motown sound.

its got this buzz and its loud enough to come though the amp
I have pretty hard but controlled attack
and I just cant figure out how to get rid of this buzz.

ive checked the tuning keys all the screws are tight
ive checked the truss rod its fine neck is perfect
ive checked the bridge - all the posts are on the plate and not being weird

im just out of ideas

any suggestions

thanks

Buzzes can be hard to chase down. Before you can make a good judgement on what may be causing the buzz, you'll have to narrow down the possibiliies.

Does it buzz wnen you play only certain notes? If it does you probably have a fret problem.

If it buzzes from a loose hardware problem, have someone touch each hardware part. When the buzzing part is touched, the buzz "usually" stops.

The truss rod could have possibly be the cause of a vibration for various reasons. If that's the case, It's best left to a decent repair person. Very unlikely to be your problem, but it does happen.

Those things are pretty much in order of probability, IMO.

Sorry, Josh. We were both typing at the same time.

I agree with you on the stickeys. Even if they don't touch on ones particular problem, the stickies have a world of info that will build an understanding of setup that can save big bucks over a career.

i know a decent amount about set up
ive already checked those things that you suggested
me and a buddy who does repair work both looked at it
we thought the buzz was from a stripped out screw on a tuning key so we filled it in and did all that repair
still there he checked the truss rod its in good shape
i dont think its a fret buzz issue it doesnt seem to come from the bridge

i appreciate the tips
