Got Hipshot Ultralites for my MIM Jazz

Sign in to disble this ad
I bought the tuners from Musicians Friend. I looked it up and made sure that the MIMs had 11/16 holes for tuners and the 1/2" post model would fit. But I just got them, and the bushings dont have a snug fit in the holes. I've read that some people put some sort of tape to make it fit right? Is that the best thing to do?

That's what I did, a wrap of teflon tape around the outside of the bushing just to make it snug. They haven't come loose on me yet. Masking tape works too, cut into thin strips.

Luckily my dad has some teflon tape, but its really thin! Its gonna take a lot to get this bushing in place. What do you think about some sort of metal sleeve?

You don't need to use any tape. The Ultralites have a different mounting system than the fenders, once you have tightened the Ultralites bushings with a key, they will not move, you will see that they are much more sturdy than the fenders. The is no need to fill the entire hole.
