Yeah if you want solid metal at least go with Hipshot.

So no one knows definitively which size post the MIM Jazz bass needs? Mine is from 2010. Does anyone know of a resource that would have that info? I checked the Fender website but couldn't find it.

I was hoping to not have to take a tuner off and measure before I order the Hipshots.

Ask Hipshot. They have a reputation for excellent customer service. The HB7's are a drop in replacement for MIM Standards and far superior to the stock machines. They are not lighter though.

Wink Okie Dokie..

Just stumbled upon this thread...

HB7's use a bushing made to press in the standard 18mm hole of a Mexican made Fender.(18mm is .708)

Typically the larger 1/2" HB6C Ultralite bushing (nut) is too small to fit in the headstock of a Mexi fender.... however (drum roll) we (Hipshot Products, Inc.) are now manufacturing an 18mm bushing to fit the Headstock (ta-da!)

Upon request when you order a set of HB6C Ultralites, let us know if you want the 18mm bushing to fit a Mexi fender (also some Japanese necks)

Please note these bushings were just cut (literally this morning on the lathe) and still have to go through normal processing.. (sanding, tumbling, buffing, send out to plating, received back from plating) so it's going to be a few of weeks before they are ready to ship to customers. We will be only be plating them for chrome tuners for now, black and gold to follow depending on demand.

Show of hands to see who wants less weight on head stocks?

Best,

zack@hipshotproducts.com
