gotoh/schlaller tuners worth the money?

ive read alot back and forth about which is better but are they really worth the $80-100 for the replacement? im sure they hold tuning better and are built better than my cheapo fender replacements but will they give better tone and keep better. id like to upgrage tuners but it would be in conjunction with a new neck so the price is definately a consideration. your thoughts?

If the tuners you already have don't make your strings slip, and if they've got enough of a gear ratio to make minor tuning adjustments as needed, I wouldn't worry about getting new ones.

Also, I've not heard any differences in tone with the various tuning machines I've used over the years.
