Gouges in the back of Neck

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys,

Don't flame me because this is acctually a question of I have about a guitar neck. My guitarist has me putting together a parts guitar for him. He wants to use this beat up MIM Strat neck that he has. I'm refinishing it so its stripped down to the bare wood now.

Theres some dents that I'm going to steam out but what about gouges? Should I use woodfiller, some sanding dust and wood glue, maybe some CA?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I finished typing about this in another thread. You might be surprised by how much good the steaming will do - I was! Just be patient - do a few "treatments," rewetting your cloth each time. When I was researching my own repair, my search of TB indicated if steam doesn't get you there, CA glue and sandpaper was probably the next step. In my case, steam was all it took.

Can't say I know what CA glue is, though.
