Gretsch G6072 bridge problem.

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi.
I bought one of these last year and have had no problems whatsoever with it until a couple of days ago when i changed the strings in readiness for a couple of gigs.
The bridge length gold screw for my A string was missing - no idea how, when or where it went as it was there until recently. The saddle was intact and the spring rolled into the F-hole but was retrievable.
A little inconvenient, i thought but i went off to my hardware store and luckily got a replacement - obviously not in gold though....
In an amazing stroke of luck while soundchecking the following day i looked down to see the replacement screw working its way out of the saddle! The screw hole is obviously either threaded or threaded wider then the screw....
Is there anywhere i can get a gold screw slightly larger than the normal size supplied by Gretsch? If not, could anyone suggest a solution?
Has this happened to other G6072 users?

You're probably never going to find a "slightly larger" screw unless you pay someone to make it, and have it gold plated. Screws come in standard sizes.

The problem is probably that the threaded hole in the saddle is a little sloppy. I would suggest using a tiny amount of Loctite on it. But you'll have to set the intonation the Loctite hardens.

Mate - why didn't i think of that? That's so logical i really feel like a dumbass!
Many thanks, that's really made things pretty simple.
