Hagstrom - aging gold hardware

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a '67 Hagstrom Concord Deluxe C2 with the gold plated hardware. Problem is, I've gotten a new-old-stock tailpiece (the one on mine had been replaced) and it's too new looking as compared to the rest of the hardware. Any tips on aging gold plated hardware?

Or could possibly trade for an aged one, I guess.

Thanks.

96tbird - no question is stupid if it's sincere and not mindless (what color bass should I get.)

It's as real as any gold plated hardware ever is.

Ok I thought maybe 67 was a good year! I would rub it with baking soda and a damp cloth, its a little abrasive and a little salty like sweat and maybe lightly drag the point of a nail here and there and maybe tap it with the nail head lightly.

Thanks for your input. I think that the baking soda part would be more in line with the "wear" of the other hardware.
