Hairline cracks around neck butt join (Fender P)a sign of overflexing neck/stripped..

Just wondered the above. I see lots of bolt-on basses with hairline cracks trailing from the neck butt join into the horns. Does overflexing the neck cause this?
Is it a sign of a weakened butt/potentially stripped screw threads?
Can they de-value the bass?
My neck threads are so worn now that the screws just keep turning without tightening. Would bigger screws be the answer?

Fill the holes using the toothpicks and glue method and your neck screws will grip again. Use carpenter's glue, not epoxy or cyanoacrylate. Don't just go to a bigger screw. The toothpicks will soak up some glue so dip them in glue first, fill the hole with glue, shove in some toothpicks and trim to length. Some guys wait for the glue to harden before re-inserting the screw. I don't and haven't ever had a problem. I just re-hung some very old windows at home using this method. Works great.

I don't see a lot of cracks from the butt joint into the horns. Sometimes though they're just in the finish. I saw one where it was through the wood and needed repair. Probably just too tight a neck joint caused it.
