Hi everyone, just looking for some feedback on this replacement bridge I made out of Cocobolo, I am trying to get a feel for its marketability.

Thanks

Its very awesome, but I'm a little dissapointed, as I read the title as "Coca Cola" bass bridge.....

Me too - thought it might help me find that more liquid tone.

I agree with the first response - looks nice but needs more sculpted edges (unless the whole bass has a block/chunk theme?).

It looks really pretty.
How's it sound?

Here are my two thoughts/questions:

Wood saddles would transfer vibrations better if they were right against the body. How much string energy is being lost to the set-screw adjusters?

Is there any sort of plate under the saddles to prevent the bridge plate from being chewed up by the set-screws?

Perhaps some sort of wedge arrangement could solve both problems... it might be tricky to machine, but worth looking into.

It looks like really nice work, regradless!

Looks great, but I`d be a little worried about it`s long-term durability...

Sound is great I guess best described as organic, what I did with the adjusters is thread and solder small brass discs on the bottom of each set screw, string energy seems to be good. Do like the wedge idea though.

Interesting, & if the price is not nuts I may want one. Is there any adjustability to the string spacing(side-to-side/width)?

Iwantone, Iwantone, Iwantone....GAS bubble.

Yes, it looks very nice. I have so much respect for people that can pull off this kind of craftsmanship. You don't want to even imagine what this would look like if I tried to do it. Think block of 2x4 with screws and a chopped up bolt for saddles. I can rewire a bass in 20 min or set the bias on my amp, but I sucked in shop class.

If you think about making some, I would be interested. I am on the waiting list for a Naimish, but if you could do one that would be sweet. Would you be able to do something like this in a nice dark black ebony? I tend to play with my hand on the bridge, could you make those adjustment screws shorter? Maybe a thinner base? Maybe file grooves into the saddles, thus raising the saddles overall height? Just spit balling, it's your design and it looks fantastic.

Iwantone.

I love the inclusions/bark look.

I have a craigslist ad under Philly/music inst with price, this one does not have adjustment left and right for strings but I could add series of gauged slots using nut files if thats desirable. I can make this out of Ebony, I cannot however do the cantilevered barrels that is see on the Naimish.

Yeah that was a commission piece, neck through made with a stock of cherry that was left to me by my grandfather, the wood has been drying for 50+ years.

Oh and yes the set screws can definitely be shorter.

I think that it looks very nice, but very utilitarian without sculpted edges.

I also think the price is more than a bit high and will scare away a lot of people.

I think that the price is ridiculously high.
