I have been hanging my bass on the wall for about 6 months now, and in the past three months, I have had to adjust the truss-rod twice. Does hanging it on the wall mess with the neck, or is it just the heat we have been having here latley (100+ for about a month).
BTW, I have had to tighten the TR. |

BTW, I have had to tighten the TR. | It's not the heat, it's the (lack of) humidity. I am in Dallas, and my stuff was pretty stable for over a year, but I have been needing to make some tweaks this summer as well. Mine don't hang, so I don't think that is a factor.

It's probably not a good idea to lean it against the wall for extended periods. Just my two cents.

Then, I visited the Sadowsky shop when it was still on 48th and Broadway in Manhattan. Roger displayed all his basses by hanging them off the wall behind the counter.
I figured if it wasn't okay to hang them like that, he'd never do it, so I felt okay doing it myself. I'd also chalk up any neck or truss rod problems this time of the year on the heat and/or humidity.

Yeah - I think it's the weather, too. This year was actually the first year I had to tweak a neck after initially setting up a bass. Before this year, I Never had to do it.
After some outdoor gigs this year, I had to get the allen wrench out.

However I know for a fact that leaning the neck against stuff like I used to WILL DISTORT the neck, my buddy left home for about 7 months and left his relatively new Carvin Custom leaning in the corner of his room, when he came back the strings were about 2 inches off the fretboard and the neck was obviously bent. He adjusted the rod all the way and it just barely got the right action in it, and I imagine this is not good on the neck. Players beware.
