has anyone put the new Badass 3 on a Fender Jazz?

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a new(er) Fender Jazz with the S-1 switching and I'm thinking of putting the new BAdass 3 on it (3 screw holes for newer basses and string-thru body setup). Im really a "stock" guy and havent done any mods to any of my basses/guitars but I hear this will really improve the sustain/sound/overall playability of the bass. Any suggestons?

I did and it does. Nothing to mod, just three screws that fit into the existing holes.

You will have to intonate the bass and set the action but I have found most badass bridges have great action out of the box (or cardboard).

Badass 3 installed (thanks man!)

That was quick. I took my Jazz along with the Badass 3 I received today from bestbassgear.com over to Gary Brawers shop in SF. They installed it, filed the saddles, set the intonation and the action and bam! It's like a whole new bass! Finally the strings are one with the wood and the sustain is fantastic. My Stingray will have to take a backseat for a while....

You cannot "upgrade" here. The Badass 2 has 5 screw holes and the Badass 3 has 3 screw holes. Depending on the year and model of your Fender, you only have the option of one or the other. The Badass 3 also comes with two sets of saddles. One set with no grooves, and one with pre-grooved saddles. They also now sell the Badass 2 with pre-grooved saddles. I just recently put one (Badass 2 pre-grooved) on a Fender MIM Jazz Bass and it was like getting a new bass. I highly recommend the pre-grooved saddles.
