Has anyone tried this? P bass guard on jazz bass?

would it work well? i believe the neck pockets are the same size. I would be doing this to fit a p pickup in the middle position of a j bass. I would cut the p bass guard and leave the control plate.

Significantly different body shape. The Jazz has a much more offset shape. So, no it won't fit, and I'm not just talking about the control plate area.

Best bet would probably be just have a custom jazz guard made from someone like pickguardian and see if they can just put a PBass pickup route instead of the Jazz pickup.

You could try warmoth. they have jazz pick guards with a P cutout. I am sure there are others who make similar guards, but warmoth is the first that comes to mind.

Good Luck.
