Question Has Leo Quan gone out of business?

Sign in to disble this ad
It's really hard to find badass bridges. No stock on lots of stores, and every day it's more difficult to find them on ebay (And if there's one, at an stratospheric price)

Is the company going trough a rough moment, or just the OEM market is takin' all the production?

Has Leo Quan gone out of business?

The Leo Quan website states that their USA distributor is AllParts. Are you unable to purchase them through AllParts?

Allparts has all the Leo Quan products out of stock. Also if I remember well, they said in their blog that they were puting all the Leo Quan line as temporally discontinued.

I wonder how that would play out with all the various Fenders that come stock with them installed.

Just Got a BAII Used today! Have a BAI on my 77 Precision. Had 2 BAII base plates, no saddles, gave 1 to a friend as a Birthday gift. Still have the other. I saw one sell last week on Ebay for 255.00! Made me wonder if the Fenders that come with them (Geddy, Highway 1 Etc) will go up in value?

I saw that one too, my face was more or less like this

And if they really get sold at that price, this thing will get worse. I remember that in 2009-2010 they could be found at 60, now they rarelly sell for less than 90. I would rather buy a Babicz or Hipshot for that price, but the Leo Quan has an I-dont-know-what that makes me want it every time I see one... Geddy Lee, it's all your damn fault!

Returning to the tread... Somebody knows what it's really going on here? Has the company shutted down, or just their production can barelly take the OEM demand, leaving nothing for the aftermarket?

Earlier this year (just after January NAMM) I heard that there were health issues plaguing Leo. Don't have any details though...

The only BA I ever had came on a Gibson EB-0; it did nothing to complement the bass. I immediately uninstalled it, sold it and re-installed the original bar bridge.
AFAIK Leo Quan is out of business.

Fender still installing bridges though. I am sure you might hear an announcement REAL soon about Fender snapping up the product line. Just a hunch.

I absolutely love my BAII, but if I can sell a slotted BAII for 250 bucks I will buy a GOTOH 201 for 30 bucks from warmoth and pocket the rest.

There isn't a huge difference between the two.

DAMN. I should probably get on the ball and go get one. I've wanted them for a while but didn't feel like shelling out the $120 my local shop charges me, I might wanna go get that thing soon!

Maybe too many people found out they were useless and a sham and they couldn't sell any more.

It would be the low mass v/s high mass discussion again, but for me, if I had the money, just the mojo factor would be enough

leo quan

I am pretty sure that Fender bought the Leo Quan line a couple of years back. In my best guesstimation they are cornering the market to make us all buy overseas Geddy basses. I love the Geddy bass but Fender's "tactic" quite literally pisses me off. Big business - little people. Maybe I should just make my own damn bass.
