Have to comment on Guitar Parts Resource

I normally don't complain, but I have to here about GuitarPartsResource.com. I placed an order online for a black pickguard for my Geddy Lee Jazz. I was psyched when it arrived just two days after I ordered it. I was impressed with GPR already! I took off the tortoise shell pickguard that I bought from WD Guitar Parts and tried to put on the GPR guard. It was too big. Everything lined up but it was too long by about an 1/8 to a 1/4 inch at the metal control plate.

So I tried to call them to return it on 5/20. Got the answering machine. Tried again. And again. Still nothing. I sent an email on 5/25. No return reply.

I kept trying to call daily and kept getting voicemail. I emailed again on 6/3 and FINALLY got this response today:

"All of the pickguards we have here are spot on. You'll need to fill out an RA and send it back. Did you buy your Geddy Lee new?"

Excellent customer service (sarcasm). Ignore the customer for 2.5 weeks then when you do respond, tell him he's wrong.

I have told them I don't want an exchange. I want a refund. I will be placing my order with WD today...

I tried them (GPR/BPR) a couple times a few years ago and was not impressed either. Apparently, some people have had good luck with them, or so I have read here. Occasionally I will look at their website to get a part number or something, but I will likely never buy anything from them again.

I've bought many many things from them with nothing but great experiences. I live in Ohio so I have to pay tax. It is nice getting your parts the next day though.

Never had to return anything though so no experience with that. Sorry you're having problems I know how that feels... especially when you want to be right NOW.

I have had nothing but great experiences as well.

The thing about Fender Pickguards is that they have more variations than any company rightfully should. WD or a custom pickguard company is the only place to go for Fender replacements.

I would find it hard to believe they would have a Geddy Lee to check their stock against.

don't be surprised if the WD version is also off.

your best bet is actual fender brand pickguards.

WD will take a trace of your pickguard and line it up. If they have it, they'll send you that. Otherwise, they'll custom make it from your trace. Just contact them about it.

Got a stingray pickguard along with quite a few other parts from these guys. Had a good experience.

With the economy as it is, I find it hard to understand how any small business can afford to give less than stellar service. Word of poor service spreads fast in the digital age. Hence this thread....

I've ordered a bunch of stuff from GPR. It usually comes relatively on-time, in good condition and in reasonable packing.

However - I was concerned one time about an order that was a couple of weeks late, and I mist have attempted to contact them over 20 times in the course of a week, via both telephone and email.

I still haven't heard back from them to this day.

+1. I've never bought a Fender brand guard for my Fender and all of them didn't fit 100%.. Some where closer than others though. I don't really ever expect a 3rd party guard to fit perfect and usually just end up drimmeling as needed.

That poor of customer service though, is inexcusable.

When ordering a premade Fender copy pickguard, I fully expect it to not fit. I've never had a problem with the site. :shrugs:

I ordered a couple of output jacks from them last Friday. I'm in Michigan and they haven't arrived yet. I never got an email confirmation and they haven't responded to my emails nor have I been able to get a hold of them via the phone. Not impressed as of yet. . .

I've ordered from them several times, never had a problem, always fast shipping and good products, but as someone else stated I've never had a return, so not had to tread those waters.

My parts place of choice - only place I can find a Gotoh 203 in Nickel/Black, or any bass metal in Nickel/Black.
Always great service.

Agree with tlr193

Guitarpartsdepot.com is the only place I get my parts from now, got sick of the run around with other companies, they always take care of me and are very polite.

I put a black WD pg on a Geddy Lee and it fit perfect.

I wish I still had that bass.
