| Having an Issue with open string notes

I just picked up my bass for the first time in a while and when I play the open strings but instead just rattle. If I fret, though, then everything is fine.
I'm totally inexperienced with bass and I have no idea what could be causing this. The bass is set up next to an open window and it's very cold outside. Could this have caused an issue? |
