Hi,
This has been on my mind for quite a while now and I haven't found any answers yet. I thought I'd ask here. Why do some people place hair bands at the top of the neck/headstock join? |

Some players do a tapped 2 handed thing and it keeps the open strings from making sound.
Other players are trying to damp the sympathetic vibrations between the nut and tuners which sometimes cause an annoying buzz or false note that makes the bass sound out of tune.
It may also be a way to add a bit of down pressure behind then nut to true the open string and add sustain. |

Far as I know, that's a Wooten family thing, not just Vic's.
