Headstock Decal

Has anyone out there purchased product from the DecalDude?
http://www.decaldudeus.co.nr/

Well, The TB Forum and the people on it are freaking awesome.....
Shortly after posting this thread I was contacted by a fellow TB'er who will remain nameless for now.
As a hobby he does vinyl and metal type graphic work which includes decals.....
By the end of the day after emailing him pictures of the original he had made me a reproduction decal and it looks great!
He is mailing three to me free of charge....wouldn't even let me pay postage. It is truly great knowing there are people out
there that willing to help.......
Thank you very much !!!

No but $10 for shipping a decal is outrageous!

Ebayer "hectic-hillbilly" is in the UK and he doesn't charge more than a couple dollars for postage to the US. And his decals are really good quality!

Yeah, isn't that against TB rules or something?

If the big "F" had decals for sale, I'd buy them. Unfortunately, I'm left to go elsewhere.

The big F does have restoration decals available to "Authorized Fender Repair Facilities". We can also get duplicate serial numbered decals from big F too.

So I'd have to go through a middle man to get a decal? LOL!

u can get decals with metallic in to 2 for 20 if you do a google search, inkjet waterslides are not really worth it if u can get metallic inked ones for the same price.

There should be a big hint in there somewhere. Probably for reasons like this: Is this J bass a fake?

There's no point debating the legality or ethics of decals in this thread. Such threads already exist and generally go nowhere fast.

My points are simply:

-the decals offered in the op's link are fraudulent
-it disappoints me that TB takes no stance against propagating such items

I'm in no way commenting on any individual TB-er's personal ethics. Just pointing out the 2 points above.

Back on topic.....

Damn, I'm S.O.L. Still trying to track down a Squier decal for my MIA.

"The story"
I bought a Ibby from a TB'er that the finished was damaged when he bought by an impact on the bottom strap button so hard that it chipped off a fairly large area of finish and sent three lateral cracks across the back. I got it at a really good price and took on the project of refinishing.....This included a new piece of Mapa Burl veneer on the headstock to match the body. Hence the need for replacement headstock decal....
I contacted Ibanez but have yet to hear any word back from them.....

Good luck with that. Ibanez is not known for good customer service.

Understood. See my quote from above:

While your story/explanation makes plenty of sense, it in no way makes the decals you linked to any less pirated.

I can't comment on Ibanez decal policy, but I do know Fender's (as an example). If you can demonstrate to a Fender authorized dealer that an original Fender instrument needed repairs that necessitate a new decal- they send the dealer a new decal for you.

Just for the record, nobody in this thread "supported" a pirated decal dealer. The first guy asked if that one pirate was any good, but the two decal dealers that were mentioned in response do not sell pirated goods.
