Heavy Head?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys, not sure if this is the right section to post, but... my Fender Jaguar Bass has always had a heavy head, and I find I always have to keep propping up the instrument to play properly. Is it possible to fix this? Was it made badly?

Thanks

Ack! Just found something using search! Sorry , but it's still a big problem!

I'm scared to drill a hole in the neck joint but maybe what I have to do. Anyone know of a better alternative?

Design and material issue. The Jag upper horn where the strap button is lies slightly south of the 12th fret, so more neck is hanging out there. Jazzes and P's horn's are longer towards the head so decrease neck dive.

Made badly? Does it feel bad? The neck is maple which is much heavier than the Agathis body wood. I've never played a long scale bass that wasn't a bit head heavy. Nature of the beast.

Remedies: Hipshot ultralight tuners, wide leather strap (no joking!), tilt your beers with left hand.

Thanks I'll give it a shot, but definitely not a fan of wide straps haha. As for beers... I don't drink beer haha.

Doesn't seem like it's made bad at all it's my favourite bass! Feels sooo nice (as with most Japanese made items I own). I wasn't aware that some basses are naturally like this haha. It felt fine when I was sitting and playing, but standing it's just weird (costed me an audition ).
