Heavy strings on Badass II?

Sign in to disble this ad
I just got a Geddy Lee Jazz and as most of you know it has a badass II bridge on it. My band plays in drop C tuning (CGCF) and I want to set up the bass to that tuning.

What I'm gonna do is buy a pack of 5 strings and just not use the G. So I'll be tuning the BEAD to CGCF. What I want to know is, will the bridge be able to hold the strings? I've had a close look and the indentations (for lack of a better word) are really thin. Anyone use heavy gauge strings on their badass II?

BTW, I will have the bass professionally set up (truss rod, intonation etc) so the heavy strings won't ruin the neck.
