Question HELP Buying a BadAss II

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello... some guy offer me two used BadAss II bridges... but I donīt know which one to choose.
The first one, is the slotted version and the second had custom slots.
I canīt test any of this because this guy is from other part of my country.

Slotted

Custom Slot

Also.. these two bridges are modificated to use strings through the body. How this affect to the sound?

These are the only ones that I could find here in my country… which is better option???

Thanks for you help... sorry for my bad english.

My first choice would be the factory-slotted one, but both look pretty good.

En otras palabras: A mi me gusta mejor el primero, pero el otro esta bien. Son iguales, mas o menos.

String-thru vs top-mount = personal preference.

The slotted version would be the way to go if it's a direct replacement for your bass. I do worry that the damage (grinding marks?) might mar your bass' finish, but it would at least be hidden.

The custom slotted bridge might not be the best for your bass as it was slotted for another.

Modified for string through? I thought they came that way.

Not to sure, however I would go with the one with lots of slots, as it would be more adaptable.

I don't think that drilling the holes will affect the sound in a noticeable way at all.

Your English isn't half as bad as some people who speak it natively, don't worry!

Thanks guys for your quick reply!!!
I donīt know if my bass will match the custom slots of the second bridge.

So I was thinking in buying the first one.
Anyone can give me a reason to buy the other one? jaja

(Iīm glad that my english works fine :P)

No... that holes were drilled manually.
The "mass loss" can affect the sound or entonation??

Buy them both. It's my understanding that BAII are getting hard to find. Keep the one you don't use for a later project, or turn it for a profit some time.

i suggest the pre-slotted one rather than the "home"-slotted one, as you stand a much better chance of having your string spacing be right.

those extra holes aren't going to affect anything.

badass bridges are all of a sudden hard to find, so i would hurry.

If you have the cash, then why not buy both, otherwise go with the factory slotted one.

Leo Quan got bought out by fender, it looks like the only Badass Bridges we'll see new will be on Geddy Lees... jerks.

Buy both, you'll probably be able to turn a profit on the one that doesn't work for you!

Are you sure? I looked around after hearing this and haven't been able to find this anywhere. Where did you hear that?
