Help changing my tuning keys

Sign in to disble this ad
I saw in a few treads, people talking about the Hipshot ultralight tuners.

And I wanted to know first of all if it does make a big difference having em.

And my main question is how would you know if you need the
3/8 or the 1/2 does it make a difference having one or the other?

What kind of bass do you have? I sent an email to hipshot asking them, what kind of tuner were needed for my squier VM jazz, they said to get the 1/2 http://accessories.musiciansfriend.c...Set?sku=363044 they're not a direct replacement, will have to drill a small hole on the headstock.

You should remove one tuner and measure the hole so you know which size will fit. If your tuners are heavy, it does make a difference-less neck dive.

all my basses have them. on my Jazz, it was way back when they did not offer the 1/2", and I used the 3/8". It was not a perfect fit but since they don't use press-on bushings but a screw-on bushing it was fine as long as you kept it centered. And one little hole is easier than 4.
