Help with eliminating high fret buzz?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys. I have an Ibanez SR 506 and its got some nasty fret buzz from like the 10th fret up. Do I have too much back bow? Could it be the saddles?

Possibly too much relief -- can you measure it and post the value?

If you're saying you get buzz when you fret the 10th fret, can you isolate it to a single fret -- so when you fret the 10th, can you tell which fret the string is hitting to buzz -- and is it buzzing for ALL frets from 10 onwards?

Are you comfortable with adjusting the truss -- you could try tightening the truss an 1/8th of a turn, readjust the saddles, and see if that impacts it. Post the relief measurement and you can probably get some comps here to judge whether you have too much or too little, in case you're nervous about playing with the truss.

Okay. Update. I tightened the truss rod and straightened the neck out. Then i raised the saddles and it seems to have eliminated it. The low B sounds a little buzzy up super high, but I never go up there anyway. The funny thing is, is that there seems to be a rattle coming from where the neck meets the body when playing aound on the G and C strings. I plugged in and luckily this is not amplified. Any idea as to what this could be? I'm fine with it, because i cant hear it over my amplified sound, but when noodling unplugged its kind of a bother.
