Help with fret inlay problem

Sign in to disble this ad
I bought an acoustic bass which I like but its only problem is that one of the inlays on the 12th fret is missing. Can I get another one and install it and is it a simple job?

First of all yes you can fix it.

Second yes it's easy to find one just type fret supplier into google.

Third it's not gonna be easy actually it may require a highly trained luthier, who knows how to work on a fretboard. Because if you don't know what your doing you could totally destroy the fretboard and with it being an acoustic it could very well destroy the neck thereby making the entire bass unplayable.

Just look around at luthiers getting estimates.

OR

(Your lucky I remembered this)
Search for removable fret inlays not sure if that's what their called but, on ebay some company sells sticker inlays that just stick on your fretboard and can come off without a razor or stickyness.

meh... just search for an inlay that will match... you might have to trim it a bit, but should be able to just clean out the old glue and glue the new piece in. you can fill around the edges and gently sand it smooth.

Have fun with it!
