HELP!!! How to fix cable receptacle??

Hey!
I have a little problem. I've had my bass for 2 years now, and the little cable receptacle is loose. Because of this, whenever I plug in an instrument cable, my bass starts making squeaking and popping noises. How should I fix this? I opened it up and there's no apparent way to tighten the receptacle thing, so HELP!!

Tighten the "receptacle" by turning the nut with a socket, making sure that you only snug it (finger tight).

Are you sure it's not a bad cable after two years?

Couple questions. Is the cord loose in the jack, or is the jack itself loose in the bass?

Is it the closed "shotgun barrel" type of input jack, or the open "arm" style?

If it is the closed type, best bet is to replace it, if the cord is loose.

If the cord is loose in the open arm type, try bending the arm in a little to get a better grip on the cord jack.

Receptacle.... i shall remember that.

All suggestions are spot on. Even though its a new cable.. have you checked the cable?
