Help... I keep breaking my E string

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi,

I have a Squier II P bass for which I replaced the bridge and tuner. Ever since I replaced the bridge, I keep breaking my E-string. I use my fingers to pluck the strings, and use flatwound strings with a heavy gauge. The string sits well on the saddle, and nut on the guitar. I've been told that there might be a burr on the saddle but could it also be that the saddle is too low, or something like that? I got a new string, but before I put it on, I want to adjust the saddle on the bridge to try to prevent this from happening again. Do you have any advice on this? Or is there another thread I could refer to?

Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!
