Whilst I generally agree with most of the posts, and agree with probably just leaving it and enjoying the bass, it bothers me that most people posting are making it sound like the guy is crazy for wanting to fix it. Why shouldn't someone want to repair something thats damaged?

I never like it when my Warwick is dinged, and I'll take time to either steam or buff the damage out when it happens. I do this because its something I worked to afford, and I beleive as someone whose fortunate enough to own it, I should take the best care of it as possible.

For me there is no correlation between the condition of the instrument and the enjoyment of playing it, but I have no problem with people who like to take care of their pride and joy.

If the scratch isn't too deep, you can buff it out by hand with a product by 3M called Finesse-it II finishing material. I find that a white microfiber cloth is the best way to apply it. You can buy it from an automotive refinishing supply shop, and the bottle's big enough that you can take scratches out of yours and your family and friends' cars probably for the rest of your life. I think I've had my bottle for about six years, and I've only used about 20% of it. This stuff seriously works like magic.

Sell it to me, i'll give you half of what you paid for it - its damaged, right? then you can go and buy yourself a new bright shiney one. Let the store do the setup next time, and if they scratch it, it's their fault.

Thank you Anarchyok for saying what I've been thinking through this whole thread. What's WRONG with wanting to fix a ding? I may try some of the suggestions on my black Fender J.

Well I'm gonna go against the grain here & say you'll never get over it. You might as well just send it to me & I'll suffer through that ONE scratch. BTW when you scratch the next one you can send me that one too 'cuz I'm here to help.
