Question Help Installing Hipshot GB7

Sign in to disble this ad
So I got a Hipshot GB7 for a christmas present(so excited!), and my dad and I were trying to install it, but we can't figure out what we did wrong.. whenever we try to tune it, the string pulls the tuner forward, and the lever doesn't stop it, as shown in the picture. Did we install it wrong? What are we doing wrong?

No, just the tuning machine part. The lever and plate don't rotate at all.

the tuning machine part movement is what detunes the string, the lever and plate are not supposed to rotate, so when you flip the lever, it allows the tuning machine to move just to the point you set with the adjustment screw to be in tune for D or whatever your playing.

do you have thew string wrapped around it in the right direction? Looking at your pic, when detuning, the machine should move toward the next string tuner (left in the pic), so maybe you have the whole assembly mounted in the wrong clocked position?

Ok, look at this pic, https://store.hipshotproducts.com/se...roducts/93.jpg , see how the set screw over laps the part of the lever, now look at yours and see whats going on, you may have to disassemble it and reassemble it. HTH
