Wink Help me clean my knob(s)

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a steinberger XM-2 bass that has dirty volume knobs.

They are black and grooved with a white indicator line and a metal hex screw to hold them on.

I can't mess them up because I can't get replacements.

Is there a good or best way to clean them?

Thanks!
Mark

And I'd you don't have your own, you can "RENT" one.

Seriously though, have you tried Windex?

So, you want to clean you knob?

On topic: A baby wipe might work, or similar. I'd stay away from anything you wouldn't want to touch with your bare hands.

+1
Spray the Windex onto a paper towel and wipe the knobs. Don't spray it on the knobs or the bass.

This is an easy fix. When I read the thread title, I thought you had dirty, noisy pots. Not just cosmetically dirty knobs.

Windex is pretty much just ammonia and water. You could probably clean them with WD-40 also. Just make sure you wipe them off really well so you don't leave any oily residue.

Hey All-
Yes the knobs themselves are dirty, the pots are relatively noise free.
I will try the windex first and I think i will follow it up with a little wd-40 as the hex srews look a little rusty to me as well. Maybe this will help in that respect.
Thanks again, I will let you know how my knob-job goes...
wait...what?
