Help me with hipshot extender!

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi. I'm looking to put a hipshot extender (the lever that you can use to go to drop d without tuning down) on my mexican jazz bass. For anyone who uses or has had experience with these things I have a few questions:

1. Any problems or issues with them?
2. Do I need to use any particular guage of strings or will they work well for all?
3. Should I replace all my tuners with hipshots to maintain uniformity or will it not matter?
4. Anything else I should be aware of?

Yeah . . . the ONLY bass that I have now that DOESN'T have an extender is the neck-through fretless (that's tuned EADGC)

Yeah, me too.

For me it's the B-string tuner . . .
But the whole idea is that you put on a drop-tuner thats the SAME model as the rest of the tuners that are on the bass . . . it's really a "non-issue" in my book.

Great idea!

And don't forget to put a little dab of "Vaseline" petroleum jelly on the lever (where it - the lever - comes in contact with the post)
