Help me please, Active electronics problem

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello wise and talented bass players,

I've have a musicman stingray 20th anniversary bass for about 10 years, and I'm experiencing a puzzling problem with the electronics.

I was playing the bass when all of a sudden it started making a sound like a motorcycle revving up and it wouldn't stop.

When I opened it up and took the electronics apart, everything looked fine, and when I inadvertently touched a wrench to one of the pots it started to sound fine again.

Although, whenever it gets lightly touched or shaken, it starts to make the motorcycle sound again.

Does anyone know what might cause this, and if I can possibly repair this myself?

I'm afraid to take it anywhere because the thing sounds so darn good and I dont want anyone to mess it up.

Thanks so much!
