I need your help. I bought a Peavey Fury IV, and when it arrived the body had been nearly split in two! I love the neck so much that I don't want to lose it. I have tried finding a replacement Fury IV body without success (not suprising).
My question is - Is there another make of body that I could use instead of an original? I am in no way a luthier, so it would have to be something that a near idiot could do, and at not a great cost as my funds are limited. Any ideas? |

He stated that I should not have signed for the parcel until I had checked it, but as it looked fine from the outside, and the courier was not willing to wait 10 minutes for me to open it, I didn't (I have surely learnt my lesson!!) In the end it cost me £50. That's life. |

This pic also shows the dint (bottom right) where the guitar was hit to cause the split. The second pic shows the depth of the crack. I think I am right in saying the body is lost. |

It broke at the weakest place, where the cavity is routed.
The body can be split the rest of the way into 2 seperate pieces and the grain patterns of the two pieces will interlock and realign the two pieces exactly for regluing. The glue joint will be almost invisible.
If you have to throw it in the trash bin, throw it in mine!

It played fine after its accident, and despite a split in the same places as yours, it help up for years and years. Its up in the attic now, gathering dust, in one piece.

No, it wont affect the tone.
