For some reason, the nut on my bass (fretless if it matters) started buzzing only if I played an open G. also, if I pop the G string I noticed it actually comes out of the nut a little bit! how do I fix this?!? |

In the OP's case this might help, but it won't help the problem of the G string coming out of the nut - it might make it worse. In this case, the top of the nut has been filed too low, which can be fixed by shimming the nut and cutting all the slots a little lower, or replacing the nut altogether, which is preferable.

Ok sounds like you need a new nut. Means you will have to take to someone who can do that sort of thing. You could also try it yourself if you arent afraid of files and tools.
On the other hand, the superglue thing works fine but please please please, dont drip on the fretboard. If you do, it will just make it that much harder to pop out when you have to replace it later.

| | | | If you are getting buzz on the open string AND it's popping out of the slot, it likely means you have insufficient downward string angle after it passes through the nut. Is there a string retainer for the G string, like a Fender has? |

That or if you just switched gauges you may need to recut the width of the slot for the thicker string. sounds like the nut is fine. |
