Help with my Spector Rebop action

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi, I have just bought a Spector Rebop 4 string, its an awesome bass but I seem to be getting quite a bit of fret buzz on the HIGH FRETS eg after the 12th fret (14th,16th,18th ect) also its hard to tap on the high frets becasue of the fret buzz, I have tryed to ajust the action but I cant seem to eliminate the problem, can someone give me some guidence about how to sort this out

Thanks for ur time

First of all, measure your relief. Use your right elbow to fret the fret which meets the body(usually the 15th). After youve done that, fret the first fret with your left hand. Now, tap the 7th/8th frets with your right index finger, and tell us how big the gap there is.

Usually buzzes that buzz after the 12th fret have a loose truss rod, you need to tighten it. Check the relief first and get back to us.

ok, I have done the thing you told me to do and when I do there appeares to be no gap what so ever, what does this mean I have to do???

I am a bit scared of touching the tuss rod (Its quite stiff to turn so I wasnt going to push my luck so I left it alone)

Its no big deal the bass plays really nice and it seems to be only a little fret buzz high up, its just when I tap the high notes that I get some fret buzz

Thanks again

Post a pic or two so we can see.
If it keeps going on you can take it to a professional, especially since u're not that comfy with truss rod adjustments ( just like me )
