Help with Peavey Foundation truss adjustment

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi all,

I am trying to set up an early 90s Peavey Foundation that has too much back bow. I've tightened the truss by about a full turn and a half which hasn't had much effect.. at least not as much as I expected. It's a hex nut and I've noticed that the pin inside the nut rotates with the nut when I turn it. Should it?

Should I keep on turning the nut or is there something else going on? I usually leaves any truss work to my tech so I'm pretty clueless about this kind of thing.

Item #6106 is recommended as a tool. Is this the tool that you're using for adjustment?

Food for thought:
How hard to turn truss rod?

Too much back bow? Then you need to LOOSEN it!

Take this to a pro. If the trussrod itself is spinning you have a big issue

Sorry, it's actually up-bow and I have been using a proper sized socket.

So the nut should turn around the center pin (like a nut and bolt) and isn't pressed together? I'm pretty sure the truss isnt broken.

I'm pretty clueless about this kind of thing.

Appears to be so. Stop, and take it to someone who knows what he/she is doing.

From your photo, it looks as though the trussrod nut may be rounded over enough to be nonfunctional.
