Help Setuping up strings

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello! I just got my brand new SX SJB-62 QMD today, but unfortunatly, the bass is brand new to me. Well, here is my problem, whenever I pluck the string, It hits the very top of the fretboard and caused a buzzing noise. I soppose I am soppose to use the Tune-O-matic thingies at the bototm but I do not know what to do. Does anyone know a site or have an explanation on how I can tighten this up?
BTW I am very happy to have this as my first bass. The only flaw is that the gold hardware is a little detiorated, but thats what gold does . Thanks you! (I am planning on taking lessons in the future so I can become better at the bass!)

Congrats on your new bass!

I would suggest reading and learning more about your instrument before jumping in and adjusting the Truss Rod to get your fret buzz fixed.

It could be something as simple as adjusting the saddles on the bridge. If you do not know the parts on your bass and how they work with each other, you could be making a mistake with adjusting the truss rod for string height!

This site is good for understanding each part, you do not need to clean it at this point in time.
