HELP!! Severe buzzing!

I bought my bass from Florida and live in Montreal. When I received it last fall? It played amazingly well. However, in the last 2 weeks, the buzzing on the neck is intolerable, to the point where I can't even play the open D string!! It did have very low action to begin with. Winters in Montreal are EXTREMELY dry, so I'm sure that's what's responsible. Should I send it out to get professionally adjusted? Or wait for spring for the added moisture in the air, while I play my other bass?

Learn to set it up yourself so you can change it back when the weather changes. There's a sticky somewhere around here.

Depends on where the buzzing is as to what fix you need to apply.

The fix is typically easy. Either loosen the truss rod to gain a little relief or raise the string height. There really isn't much more to it.

Just remember to make SMALL changes. I tend to make a small change, and let it sit overnight. Probably not necessary, but I'm overly careful I guess.

I also find it much easier to dutune the bass while making the adjustments, then tune it back up and test it. Less stress on the adjusters.

Also...make a note of how many turns of adjustment and in what direction you make so you can also go back to where you started. You really can't mess it up any worse than it is now if you do that.
