Question Help with Squier Affinity

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello all- I'm in need of help and advice with a Squier Affinity J bass, made in Indonesia. It is missing a tuner and the screws(?)- where can I get one and what will replace it? It is a open back tuner, cloverleaf type. Also, would I be better off replacing all 4 with Fender tuners? Will they "drop in" or will surgery be required? Any other ideas on this bass? Best strings? All would be appreciated!!!!!

this is a pretty basic bass.

go to guitar center and look up tuners for a fender. they sell the whole kit of 4. Get a screwdriver with a lot of power, cause those screws gotta be pretty tight.

Get a single tuning machine from Guitar Fetish for $7.45.

http://store.guitarfetish.com/festeleartuc.html

While you're there look around and see what they have. You might get some ideas that way.

When you install those screws, lube the threads with soap or paraffin. DO NOT power them in with a screwdriver and brute force or you will probably snap the heads off.

Oh, and by the way, you get extra points for spelling "Squier" correctly. Thank you for demonstrating that you are literate!

Although this thread is getting old, here is a document that lists Squier's part numbers for an Affinity Jazz bass: http://www.pdfdownload.org/pdf2html/...pdf&images=yes

I would think most any authorized Fender dealer would be able to round up these - especially if you walk in with Squier's part-number in hand. Hope this helps anyone landing in this thread looking for parts.
