Help Traben Neo rusty screws?

Sign in to disble this ad
I have the 5 string version of this:
http://www.trabenbass.com/neo_limited.html

recently the screws holding that giant bridge have started to rust!
why would they put screws that could rust on a bass that will have sweat running down it? Anybody have any Ideas on how to remove the rust and then prevent the screws from further damage?

Swap those bad boys out!

Take a look at your nearest hardware store, and maybe take a few screws from the bridge.
Get some shiny new Stainless steel screws that fit.
You'll be set!
Good luck.

Thanks.

Hey people, come on..
I think that the best thing to do is just to go to a hardware store/whatnot and get some replacements...

Thanks.

Try checking out stainless steel screws, they don't rust.

Not to be insulting, but there is the possibility that it could be you. I've ready *numerous* stores in the Strings forum about people that have extremely acidic sweat and can "kill" a set of new strings in a matter of days. I've also heard the same happening to pickup, control, and various other screws. I'm simply saying I highly doubt it was Traben's "fault" (how, and why, would they source out a supply of "Easily Rusting Screws"?)

As for a fix, replacement Stainless Steel screws would be very resistant to rusting, but for peace-of-mind I'd pick up a bottle of clear nail polish and brush on a layer to the head of the screw - this will help minimize any moisture from reaching the metal and starting the rusting process again.

Traben has some funny looking basses though. I love their feel and sound, but I'm too embarrassed to be caught playing one, even in the store...

People's sweat can be somewhat different from person to person - and some perspiration is harder on fabrics and metals than others.

Stainless steel screws will fix the problem. If that's the biggest problem you ever have with a bass, you'll be a lucky guy.

Check out the Traben CHAOS series. The bridge is still big but it looks more contemporary.

If you have seen the Traben Neo's you would know that the bridge is huge takin up about 30-40% of the basses front.
