HELP! wax on or wax no?

I cannot find warwick beeswax anywhere! I went to a lumber store and asked what can I use on my corvette standard in place of the elusive wax. They recommended Ludmark Clear Carnuba wax. Will this damage or discolor my baby? Do I use it or not?

beeswax is just beeswax, you don't have to get the Warwick brand, they just want you to think that... and I don't think using carnuba is a problem either, just wax a small inconspicuous area if you are not sure

You can also get bees wax at a black powder shooting supply store fairly cheap.

Why don't you just order it from Warwick?

Carnauba wax, which is extracted from the leaves of a Brazilian palm plant, is a very hard wax compared to beeswax, so you'll get a real workout trying to buff it by hand. Usually it's combined with softer waxes such as paraffin and beeswax in a blend to produce furniture wax. Floor waxes, which are meant to be buffed with a machine have a blend with more carnauba. Shoe polish, such as Kiwi contains a lot of paraffin. It polishes very easily.

The Ludmark probably won't harm your bass. You'll probably not like it though. If you can't get the Warwick, get a good furniture paste wax. It's available in better quality paint and decorating stores. I've even seen a Minwax brand at Home Depot. I haven't tried the Minwx brand so I can't comment on it. I use a brand made in England which I'm happy with. You can also use neutral shoe polish. I've used it on my natural oil and varnish finish P bass and it works very well.

WAX ON!!

Thanks for the input. My corvette is my first Warwick and it was a gift from a great friend. You can understand that this bass has been given a soul by this friend and I really wanted to make sure before I put anything harmful on it. I have to say though, the Lundmark's Clear Paste Wax is amazing!

It went on easily and really brought out the deep grain on this baby. (and it only cost $7.00) It has done exactly what I had hoped for. Thanks Mr. Pickles

A very helpful thread being as it appears that Warwick lost its US distributor, Dana B. Goods.

Anyone have more info on that?

Mike Nyce, did the wax have paraffin in it?
