It will do that sometimes until the strings settle in(a new set of course).

Thanks for the reply. Hopefully after my strings settle in I'll get better luck with keeping my bass in tune when using the whammy bar.

Your welcome.I have a Hipshot Tremolo on a 4 string and once your strings are broken in,everything else will flow like butter.

I have no problem with mine staying in tune.... like Jauqo says, it's just matter of stretching the strings and then you should be set.

Thanks for the replies guys. Is the bridge on your bass kinda "lifted"? Mine doesn't sit completely flat on my bass body so I'm wondering if that has to do with anything. Also how many springs are you using? Mine's has 3, when I use 4 it stay in tune & the bridge is flush against the body but then the whammy bar is super stiff.

On mine it's lifted a little as it should be(so the bar can be lifted upward)and I only use two springs.

Thanks again for the reply. It seems like my tremolo is set up like yours except you use only 2 springs. Wow, you must be able to get some crazy dive bomb effects! Do you have a locking nut or use locking tuners? Sorry for all the questions, it's just that for almost a year my whammy bar has just been a cool prop but now I finally wanna actually use it.

My Tremolo is flawless and beyond precise.I do not have a locking nut nor does my Bass have locking machine heads. The Hipshot really is a well machined tool.

Thanks again for the replies. Glad to hear the tremolo is working well for you. I spoke with a tech from hipshot this morning & he said to lube the nut grooves & saddles with white lithium grease. I did notice last night that it didn't go as out of tune so maybe my strings just needed to be broken in.
