Hipshot d tuner on a B string

Sign in to disble this ad
Has anyone used a Hipshot d tuner on the B string of a 5 string bass? I have a Spector Euro 5LX, and the guitarist I play with just started dropping the B on his 7 string down to A. So I was thinking about the possibility of using the d tuner so I don't have to tune or swap basses. Also, if it would work, what size hole does the Euro 5 have? I guess all the Hipshot M4's are the same except for the hole size. Thanks

Fender's CS uses one on the B-String of the Reggie Hamilton V, so I assume it works. In principle, it's just a string. If it fits in the tuner, it should work.

Warwick also has the P-Nut signature Streamer bass that comes with a Hipshot Xtender on the B as well. I've been kicking around the idea of putting one on my Cirrus as well. As long as your bass and rig can reproduce that low A with enough fundamental to make it useable (I believe a low B is just a shade under 31hz, so I'm guessing a low A is around 27hz?) I say "why not?"

Cause "B" isn't low enough.

Like the above said, if the string fits it should work. If your guitarist want's to go lower hit up knucklehead on TB. He makes basses that go a octave under so called "normal" tuning.

I've done this on most of my 5 and 6 strings.
The only issue I had is the D-Tuner that matched the Gotoh GB7 tuners for some reason had a shaft that was too short to match the other tuners on my Cirrus 6.
Sent it back to Hipshot and told them how much longer it needed to be to match and immediately sent it back modified to fit.
