Hipshot D-Tuner & a P-Bass Lyte Deluxe

Sign in to disble this ad
I want to get a drop tuner for my Fender P-Bass Lyte Deluxe. Been looking at the Hipshot range, but I don't think they do a tuner that matches mine, I've looked hard but not found one. (Unless I've just not seen it for looking). Anyone with any suggestions or alternatives?

As far as I know, Hipshot is the only one that makes a tuner type Detuner.

I'm sure a GB-7 will fit by looking at it, but might not match up. In your case, you may find yourself wanting to replace all the tuners so they match.

I've got the exact same bass, and have the detuner on it. I got it at http://www.bestbassgear.com/ . Sometimes the selection varies, but you should be able to get one that matches exactly.

If you get one, i recommend using some loctite on the screw when you install it. The detuner screw isn't very deep, and it can loosen up after a while. If you're using it alot, you could have trouble with the screw loosening. I've used loctite on mine, the one designed for bolts, and its held just fine. I really recommed using some kind of bolt glue though, as you don't really want to have problems with it at a gig.

Cheers for the help guys. It would appear that my tuners are Gotoh ones, but slightly squarer than the average! I'll email Hipshot etc and see if they can help me further. I also noticed on the Bass Gear site that they do battery boxes. Anyone tried to fit one of these to a Deluxe Lyte? Are there replacement backplates with the battery slot already in place?
