Hipshot extender tuner weight Thinking about putting one of these on my Music Man Sterling. Does anyone know if the Hipshot is heavier than the stock Schaller? Thanks! |
Yes, they are a bit heavier than the stock tuner. |
I have a d tuner on all my MMs and I never noticed any weight difference. I'm sure there's a little, but it doesn't cause any neckdive if that's your concern. |

It's definitely a little heavier since it's basically the same tuner with an extra plate and lever added on, but it's not a noticeable difference in the grand scheme of things. |
Thanks all! Yes, I was concerned that it would introduce neck dive. |
Non-factor. |
Don't know if it helps, I just weighed a Fender one 184 grams. would have to be close to the MM. you could weigh your current machine head & tape some washers or something in place to make up the difference and see what happens. Though this is probably over thinking it. I hate neck dive, but all my basses do it. :) |

This - I've had 'em on and off a T-bird, Jazz, and P Bass, and never noticed any balance differences as a result... - georgestrings |
got 'em on most of my basses, non issue. |
Got one on my MIM Jazz...balances perfectly. |
