Hipshot GB-7 on a Modulus VJ... does this look wrong to you?

I bought a VJ at BassCentral (thanks guys!) on Saturday and just now got my Hipshot in the mail from an online retailer (BC didn't have it in stock). So I put it on... and it seems a few millimeters short to me. I mean... it works, but??? The Hipshot site said the GB-7 was the detuner for a Modulus, but perhaps the VJs are thicker somehow? Here's a picture:

So, is this a problem I just live with? I really sort of have to have the hipshot if I'm to stick with a 4 string (which I really really want... I just don't breath a 5'er right somehow).

Looks like just a cosmetic fault. The string stays on the tuner, correct? If so, you should be fine.

But if the looks itself is killing you, you might want to contact Hipshot.

I had this same rig on my VJ (awesome bass, best I ever owned to be honest). I had no problems at all, just had to cuta little more off the E string. There may be one that fits better, or if you installed it wrong (which I doubt) I did too. I wouldnt sweat it. BTW, you didn;t get the burst/tort one did you? If so I am now very sad.

Ayup... that's the one.

Sorry I'm sure they'll order you another one though (and those Black Friday deals they are advertising on the website are the real deal)

There was a cream colored one too... I actually considered it because I thought it might look better on stage but I couldn't ignore that sunburst. When I got it home I was comparing it to my MIM Fender and was surprised at how much difference there was (night and day) in a cheap vs. well done sunburst.

the burst was exactly like my old one, except mine was pre truss rod. I will forever regret loss. The black and tort one was pretty killer too. Big +1 on the burst difference, although my MIM was pretty good it never compared. I recommend the sans PG look once in a while, looks great on those moddys.
