I just noticed this on the Hipshot website http://store.hipshotproducts.com/car...t_detail&p=353.
Has anyone used this yet? Any reviews?

I just noticed it the other day too. The bridge itself looks like it'd fit easily on a body, but does anyone even sell headless necks? Seems like it'd be a serious custom job to be able to use the headpiece.

Edit - this is somewhat interesting. They're using the bridge but not the headpiece: http://www.watsonguitars.net/10B039S.html

anyone try this yet ? i am going to cut my head off ! and I want to know what the spacing is at the nut or if it's adjustable. the bridge comes in 3 string spacings for 5 string. maybe i will make the head piece from ebony ? my string spacing will need to be 9.5 mm center to center and will be 16.5 at the bridge. they have the bridge spacing available but don't give the head #s.

BTW , in general, when info is listed as X spacing do they usually mean center to center or edge to edge ? anyone know ?

I believe it's center to center. They have diagrams.

The nut spacing is entirely up to you and independent of the bridge spacing.

EDIT: I just noticed that they sell the top portion as well. Hipshot is a very customer-friendly company. Email them and I'm sure they can help you get the right spacing.

From the Hipshot website (under the FAQs for the other bass bridge styles), it says:

Quote:
Here is what you need to do. Measure from the center of your highest string to the center of your lowest string. Lets say it is 3.75 inches on a 6 string. You will need to divide this number by the number of spaces between each string. In this case there are 5 spaces. So if the string spread is 3.75, we divide that by 5 and we end up with a string to string spacing of .750.
I would bet that this method will get you the information that you need.
