Hipshot trouble

Sign in to disble this ad
The hipshot on the A string of my hyperbass isn't working properly. When the lever is dropped the saddle doesn't move fully to the detune position and needs a little shove. Would a drop of WD40 on the plate work? All this hyperbass technology is still very new to me.

Thanks,
Danny

Saddle?
You are talking about the tuners on the neck, right?

It sounds like maybe the swivel plate could be binding against the washer that spaces it from the base plate.

Maybe take off the swivel plate and lubricate the washer a bit?

-Or- Maybe the tuning peg could be binding in the hole? Try taking off the string and just turning the tuning key until the peg rotates several times, as if you were tuning up your string.

Thanks bro, turning the key seems to have worked. Like I said, all this technology is still new to me!

Well, the detuner really isn't "technology", it's pretty much basic mechanical function.

If you understand how the tuner works, all you have to do is think about why each moving part could be getting stuck, and how you might get it working smoothly again.
