which hipshot tuners for my squire bronco?

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a squire bronco that i'd like to swap some hipshot ultralites into. The two sizes Hipshot seems to specify are 1/2" and 3/8". What does that actually measure?

One problem I have with the bronco is that the slots are a tad too narrow for the sizes of E string I prefer, so i'd like to 'size up' if possible.

A secondary question about the detuning levers: is it possible to install one one each string (of my bronco) without woodwork, or are in-line tuners too close together?

not sure what the bronco's tuner diameter is, i would lean toward 3/8", you could always bump it up to 1/2" inch and bore out the peg holes a bit.

i highly doubt you can fit 4 detuners on any bass. if it is possible, you have major neck dive and they would be very close together.

found the answer in this thread. Looks like 3/8" would be the choice, with some reaming to enlarge the holes to be expected.

as for detuners on all 4 strings...I guess I was thinking of a hyper bass type affair -more of a pipe dream than anything

That's a lot of money to spend on a $150 bass...on mine, the stock tuners work great. I agree that four de-tuners is unlikely to work.
