Hipshot tuners..worth the extra $$?

A lot of people here know I got a green p bass project going on. I'm looking at tuners and I'm looking at Wilkinson tuners because its 44 bucks for a set, screws and bushings included. My question is do yall think hipshots american classic series is worth extra double price?

I've found that in general you get better sustain and quicker/easier tuning from better tuners. If that's worth $50 to you over the life of the bass, go for it.

Looking at the specs, the biggest difference between the two seems to be the gear ratio. Hipshot has 27:1, Wilkinson has 20:1. What that means exactly, I haven't a clue. I have Wilkinson tuners on my fiver and I've never felt they were lacking in any aspect; solidly made, accurate, a little stiff to turn but that's a blessing for the B string.

27:1 - 27 turns of the tuner to make 1 full revolution in the gear. This obviously means more accurate tuning. Hipshot is a fantastic company to work with and they are the only company I will ever buy bridges and tuners from.

I have had 20:1 and 27:1 tuners on the same bass and the ONLY difference is that the higher gear ratio tuners are a little "faster" because of the precision they allow when tuning up. But as for holding the pitch? They are no better in that regard. I have some 20:1 Schallers that keep my bass in tune literally for weeks. It helps that the bass is as stable as it is of course.

The stock tuners on my Squier CV 50's P-Bass work great and stay in tune even after a switched to flats. I never had a "bad" set of tuners but then again, I may have been lucky.

Whoops, ignore this post. Just woke up from a nap and didn't read OP carefully. I need to stop doing that!

Stewie, you're judgmentally quoting bible verses and you don't even know how to read!
