Hipshot vintage bridge and Jazz bass ashtray

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey - I am planning a warmoth build in the near future and looking a doing a 70s style Jazz.

I really like the Hipshot Vintage bridge I have on my other Jazz (warmoth body - sadowsky style bass) and would like to use one on this build to, but wondering if anyone knows whether the Fender ashtray bridge covers fit over these bridges (as they have the lip coming out the back of the bridge)??

Thanks in advance!

Dan

2-year bump!

I've searched every thread in my search string for an answer to this question, but just find more and more questions (like the x-files!). I Figured I would revive an old thread rather than create another potential dead-end.

Like this guy who was left hanging over 2 years ago, I too would like to know if the curved lip of the Hipshot vintage bridge will fit under a jazz bridge cover. The mounting holes should position the bridge similarly to an OEM, but the I'm wondering if the curved lip matched the curves of the ashtray cover and gives enough clearance.

Somebody has to have evidence of this. Anybody? The first person to show and tell their success with this gets a big 'ole high five!

So my tech had an extra HSV bridge to try it out. Sadly, the answer is no. With standard placement, it catches the back lip by a few mm. I can get the cover to fit over it the bridge using adhesive foam strips, but it still touches the bridge. Not worth it! I think moving the mounting holes would push the ashtray too far back. Myth busted... Time to lose the ashtray for good
